Adelianos Campos

means "the plains of Adele", and Adele is a village above the eastern half of the bay of Rethymnon. So Adelianos Campos is the flat areal between the village and the coast.

The soil is of poor quality, but there is a mile-long sandy beach. Therefore, the local farmers decided already many years ago to grow hotels rather than olives.

Today, Adelianos Campos is the biggest hotel suburb of Rethymnon on the island of Crete, located about midway between the town and the eastern edge of the bay.

The bigger hotel sites of the region concentrate here and in the two neighbouring villages of Platanias and Pigianos Campos, followed by wide ranging gastronomic, sports and leisure facilities, and of course the whole bandwidth of Mediterranean watersports.

Even the headquarters of Crete's most popular dive center Atlantis are located on the beach by Adelianos Campos' biggest hotel resort.

From November till mid May, the hotel suburb is however closed. Only one supermarket, one bar, the pharmacy and the head office of Crete's leading car rental company Eurocars stay open.

And that at least has the advantage that you can order your rental car for your Cretan vacation all year, for pick-up and return at your hotel in Adelianos Campos, or very comfortably (and moreover free of charge) to the airport.
